Learning curve 2014

It's never easy to understand yourself from being inside your skin. To know the better you, one should come out from the skin and see them from the other's eye.

I kinda practiced it this year, found out a lot of characteristics of me; till this year I had a narrow vision about myself, most of the thoughts about me till this year were high, excellent and positive; but the moment when I stepped out my mind from me, I started realising the fact, that is, my characteristics are not that good as I think. 

The most hurtful moment of a person is that moment when he comes to know how bad and arrogant he is. It's kind of the pain which doesn't let you digest your saliva even.  When you rank yourself high by your heart, but it doesn't give justice to others means, you can't be a good guy, and you can't justify yourself against others in the court of your heart!

Therefore I changed myself a lot and trying to understand things from other's skin, it maybe right or maybe wrong for my good, but I will keep on going with this.

2014 gave me lessons to learn, in fact , I learnt a lot. Some days were so near to hell, (wonder how I survived, maybe I stepped into God of hell's skin 😀) some days were stressful, I had to take some decisions to succeed, which were not so easy. 

Still I'm here waiting to see the new dawn of 2015, knowing it's just a numerical change of the cycle, but yet as a common guy, looking forward to have some good moments.

Change, the only thing which doesn't change!

True leader, True friend...

This is the first time I've cried for a cricketer. As captain and as a good friend, stated as Phil's "Big brother", Michael Clarke did a fantastic job in delivering a speech which covers all the aspects of the people who mourn for Hughesy.

Stay strong and play with confident in coming years Clarky, you have to do this for Phil, your "little brother". All the best Team Australia, May the spirit of Hughes be with Australian Team and may you guys keep going places for him.

I'm deeply honoured to have been asked by Phillip's family to speak today. I am humbled to be in the presence of you, his family, his friends and his community. He was so proud of Macksville and it is easy to see why today.


Taken from the game, his family and loved ones at the age of just 25, he left a mark on our game that needs no embellishment. I don't know about you, but I keep looking for him. I know it is crazy but I expect any minute to take a call from him or to see his face pop around the corner. Is this what we call the spirit? If so, then his spirit is still with me. And I hope it never leaves.


I walked to the middle of the SCG on Thursday night, those same blades of grass beneath my feet where he and I and so many of his mates here today have built partnerships, taken chances and lived out the dreams we paint in our heads as boys.


The same stands where the crowds rose to their feet to cheer him on and that same fence he sent the ball to time and time again. And it is now forever the place where he fell. I stood there at the wicket, I knelt down and touched the grass, I swear he was with me. Picking me up off my feet to check if I was okay. Telling me we just needed to dig in and get through to tea. Telling me off for that loose shot I played. Chatting about what movie we might watch that night. And then passing on a useless fact about cows.


I could see him swagger back to the other end, grin at the bowler, and call me through for a run with such a booming voice, a bloke in the car park would hear it. The heart of a man who lived his life for this wonderful game we play, and whose soul enriched not just our sport, but all of our lives.


Is this what indigenous Australians believe about a person's spirit being connected with the land upon which they walk? If so, I know they are right about the SCG.


His spirit has touched it and it will forever be a sacred ground for me. I can feel his presence there and I can see how he has touched so many people around the world. The tributes to him from cricket lovers kept me going.


The photos, the words, the prayers and the sense of communion in this loss from people across the globe have shown me his spirit is in action. It has sustained me and overwhelmed me in equal measure. And the love of my band of baggy green and gold brothers and sisters have held me upright when I thought I could not proceed.


His spirit has brought us closer together - something I know must be him at work because it is so consistent with how he played and lived. He always wanted to bring people together and he always wanted to celebrate his love for the game and its people.


Is this what we call the spirit of cricket? From the little girl in Karachi holding a candlelight tribute to masters of the game like Tendulkar, Warne and Lara, showing their grief to the world, the spirit of cricket binds us all together. We feel it in the thrill of a cover drive. Or the taking of a screamer at gully, whether by a 12-year-old boy in Worcester or by Brendon McCullum in Dubai. It is in the brilliant hundred or five-wicket haul, just as significant to the players in a Western Suburbs club game as it is in a Test match.


The bonds that lead to cricketers from around the world putting their bats out, that saw people who didn't even know Phillip lay flowers at the gates of Lord's, and that brought every cricketing nation on earth to make its own heartfelt tribute.


The bonds that saw players old and new rush to his bedside. From wherever they heard the news to say their prayers and farewells. This is what makes our game the greatest game in the world. Phillip's spirit, which is now part of our game forever, will act as a custodian of the sport we all love.


We must listen to it. We must cherish it. We must learn from it. We must dig in and get through to tea. And we must play on.




So rest in peace my little brother. I'll see you out in the middle.

It was a shocker to hear about the sudden end to Hugsey's life. I was heartbroken when my manager told about it in middle of our critical meeting. Nothing else was going into my mind ever since I heard this! Damn! Why God? A 25 year old young kid has to exit from this world in such painful way?

My thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family and friends. David Warner and haddin were severely affected by his loss. Saw David spending the whole time since Hughes got hit in the ground till now with him. Stay strong warnie, this is what humankind is. Earning people shows the importance of one's loss.

Also, it wasn't your fault Sean Abott. It was merely an accident and you are not responsible for this. Stay strong man.

I'm not gonna watch cricket for somedays. 

We miss you Hugsey! May your soul rest in peace...

Steven Smith the future!

In recent times of Australian Cricket history, they couldn't find the proper replacement for Punter at one down position, as he was exceptionally driving that place with steady runs.

After Ponting's retirement, there were so-many options and initially it was working fine with Watto. But due to his injury concerns, he couldn't be the replacement for that spot for long time. In times it was occupied by Clarke, Mc Hussey, Hughes, Marsh, etc. But nothing clicked, yet so far.

But with the last 2 ODI performances (including today's) added to the Pakistan series in UAE, I tend to feel it will be SPD Smith!

Smithy has an Asian type of batting technique and Australian type of thinking power; which allows him to play according to the situation anywhere in the world, doesn't matter whether that's in Asia or Australia.

moreover, he applies the street cricket techniques when the opponent team tries with all the field setup against to him, so that they will be clueless where he's gonna hit the ball!

As world's best batsman currently, A B Devilliers stated, "Smithy will be a nightmare for the other team's captains", and said rightly so...

Australia finally found the best replacement to Punter, and probably for Clarke too, if he is not gonna make it for WC2015. 

Here's a soul from Srilanka wishing you good luck Smithy! Way to go!!!

Magician and the Snow white

It has no connections to the Snow white story; But there is a Snow white kinda kid Singing in-front of the musical magician! you know who I refers to; yes, it is the Magician A R Rahman and Snow white Spoorthi!

Last 2 weeks if you have followed up the Vijay TV Super singer Junior 4, you would've noticed, Spoorthi was singing songs which are very-much hard, still she delivered with the spirit to do so. She sung "Nenjil jil jil" from kannaththil muththamittaal, with the original singer, my all time favorite Chinmayi; Even Chinmayi praised Spoorthi for the brave attempt, and said she did a better performance while performing the practice sessions. But it was not up to the mark that day. She couldn't reach the upper notes easily. Again, she took "Thoda thoda malarnthathenna" in A R R round, along with mighty Shravan, but couldn't achieve the standards;

Those 2 were the indications for me, that she is going to come back so powerful, even harder; Shall we say, waiting for the main war, keeping the troops prepared. Just like how Guru Bhai saved his voice to produce in the court! An utmost silent before the Storm!

Yes, she produced probably her best, in front of Mozart of Madras! Singing in front of the musical maestro would make other kids shiver, but this cutie pie was never down, She sung like as if she was waiting for this moment only! "Minsaara Poove", male and female parts of the song, both she sung, showed dynamics to differ them, put beautiful aalaaps, moreover, Sung as she's singing for the final time, with full of confident and Spirit!

Having listened to the song, A R R just asked only one thing, "How old are you Spoorthi?" :)
That's the wow factor!

She simply ruled the stage yesterday, Everyone, including Siddharth, were loving her performance.

And on another note, Mr. A R R, gave a good explanation on why he didn't sing for Kaaviyath Thalaivan, That is, "It doesn't require to sing in all his movies, If the voice supports the plot and hero, he will definitely sing. And moreover, there are many good singers than him, and he accepted it!"

How many of our musicians will do this and be simple? Never!

If you have to go places, Be simple, talk less, listen more. That's what Rahman taught us Rahmaniacs.

Connecting dots...

Sometimes I wonder, why on earth I'm still living... Some days are very near to the hell... Some times are very hard to move on with. Sometimes I used to think why it's all happening only to me...

On all those occasions, it was like a routine, my hand easily touches my iPhone's music icon, and after some 10 or 15 minutes, I'll be the total opposite guy to the one who was there 15 minutes earlier. It's all the magic of music what changes the mind. Its sort of a meditation.

We, the guys in computing field never get time for any kind of activities as meditation or yoga, but we have loads of time to plug in a headset and do mediation! Where Rahman (for me) being the guru who sits opposite to you and instruct you to meditate!

This happens not only with the music, but lets say you are down with something and feeling absolutely empty; Those times go check the ongoing cricket scores, if your favorite team scores good (Australia for me), it will be a changing factor of your mood; If its bad time for them too, then you'll connect the dots with you and your favorite team and start thinking nothing is happening good this time! Fallacy :D

Sometimes you even apply  the quantum physics to your life, when you are having good time, your scripts will pass perfectly at office; your favorite team will win the match; your favorite person will achieve something; You'll feel you are the happiest person in this earth. duh?

Now the other side, when you are down, everything which happens around you also will be against to you. Those times what you really require is a shoulder to rest and a coffee to zip.

Of course the shoulder what I'm talking is music; it's great if you are blessed with a shoulder of your better half, if not, music will do that magic of creating that inception world with imaginary existence of beautiful couple within you.

Don't you feel it? try this for example: When you are down, just play "Ennodu nee irunthaal"(Ai) or "Yaarumila thani arangil" (kaaviyath thalaivan) in your ears. lets add a coffee cup too in the hand! If that time there is rain as well, man, you will feel heaven on earth!

Sometimes I feel, is this what Steve Jobs said about connecting dots? Quantum physics? But then, he was talking about "you can connect the dots only from behind"... Ah! makes sense! When you start feeling happy, from that time only your real happiness begins! maybe I'm writing a new theory here, but it makes sense to me :)

To feel happy later, you connect the dots to make the happiness via your headset! It shouldn't be a headset, It can be a cup of coffee, can be your beloved Timmy (human's best friend), or can be your Aussie team ;)

Bring it on guys, Happiness is there around the corner, just start connect the dots to find them!

Only this feel of freshness keeps every soul move on with their lives, so do mine!

Yarl IT Hub... Creating a silicon valley in J Town - Season 3!

There had been lots of talks gone through about Yarl IT Hub and Yarl Geek Challenge, therefore, I'm not gonna talk about it more, as this event is well known to all the IT related guys from Colombo to Jaffna.

This season 3 was so special for me since this was the first time I was seriously into the project. I got an opportunity to mentor the Junior Geek Challenge, thanks to the organizers for gave me this wonderful opportunity.

First of all, met a wonderful team from different companies in and around Colombo, to mentor. We all from different backgrounds, different technology specialists, but the vision of us for this mission was clear and it was in a single direction.

The Hackathon was held in TCT hall in Jaffna for the first 2 days, followed by the final presentation and awards giving in Jaffna library auditorium. The event was well organised, with the help of the co sponsors and the talented event organizers.

The task given to us was to encourage and take out the best throughput from the junior competitors, and for our astonishment, some guys were extraordinary in their ideas and in techno handling.

There were schools who came from long distances to participate, they were much enthusiastic in giving their best, and one of the school's college day was on the second day of the hackathon, still they came to confirm their participation. 

All of their ideas were very unique and useful, both in terms of technology and business. Comparing to the standards of the Senior geek challenge, the juniors did better job, given the platform. 

It was a learning curve for me as well, mentoring was like learning together with the kids to achieve their goals, sounds good, isn't it? :)

While mentoring the junior guys, got an opportunity to look at the Senior Geek Challenge as well, Their ideas were exceptionally well; They had good technical skills; the solutions they have created were the needs of the real day to day activities, which is a win-win situation for hackathon and the presenters. 

But...

This was not a big win for the investors, as the proposed projects and solutions were not that handy when it comes to business model. Thinking about their solution in business point of view was where the senior geeks lacked in. 

The next season should cover the business conceptual mentoring as well for the competitors. 

And one more area to get improve is to think out of the box. this is particularly for the junior guys. Most of their presentations were related to Education. they have to come out of that barrier and should think about the social responsibility and economical products, as they are the young bloods who are gonna rule the silicon valley coming years! 

Altogether, it was not second to any hackathon happening around the globe, yet, need to be better and set trends as Yarl! (Can somebody think of changing it to Yaazh, as the grammatically correct spell. :D)

Kaththi..... Unbelievably sharp!

When the movie was released on the Deepavali day in Srilanka, Me and my fellow friends had a bad day in front of the theatres of Colombo, couldn't get in to see the movie, but yesterday, for all the astonishment, it was crowdless Eros cinema for Kaththi @ 9.30 pm, and by all the blessings from the almighty, enjoyed the movie better with a non-verbal spectators, comparing how it would have been if I would've been there on the Deepavali day! :D

First of all, it was in disbelief I was watching the movie, considering the previous performances of this guy! Vijay as an actor is matured very-much! Kudos to the director, Mr. Murugadoss, he just made Vijay listen and provide what exactly he expected in the screen!

Applause for Vijay, for his obedient presence in the movie. He didn't do anything more or less. He was perfect for the story, not giving the usual crappy dialogues, not jumping from buildings, no stupid punches, but he lived the charactors, he did a superb job to do dual roles, sensing the roles very well, so as to give credit to the movie.

A simple example why I'm telling he acted with sense; there was a scene in the second half of the movie, The Villathi villain Vijay was hit and the Innocent Vijay was watching him getting trolled by the rowdies. If it was a usual Vijay movie, the innocent Vijay would've turned up for the challenge and would've hit the rowdies and save the other Vijay. But Murugadoss didn't allow that and that makes the movie different, the Actor Vijay as matured, and the cinema fans happy; even though the Vijay fans wouldn't be happy with that ;).

The story-line of the movie is perfect; It's the right time to talk about the importance of the paddy-fields and farmers since their fields are all getting transformed to corporate business malls and buildings.

The dialogues in the film are best described the situations of farmers. That long speech Vijay gives at the climax is the high light of the movie; His presenting of it was perfect. 

As usual, Samantha had nothing to do in the movie than coming as hero's beloved girl. She was present in all the scenes with the hero. But there's no complaints about her beauty, probably the prettiest girl in tamil cinema now. 

the only concern about the film is the background music! Mr Anirudh, when are you gonna mature, mate? the first half was spoilt by the background music, it was like someone put music for the sake of it should be there as a representation. horrible opening scene, just because of the music was played little earlier to the hero's entry! (real entry). 

Songs were composed good, but the choreography wasn't that amazing, comparing to the effect it made while audio release! And I was shocked to know that the "Paalam" song wasn't there in the movie!

Altogether, Kaththi is amazing, not the "marana mass" flavor what typical VJ fans would expect, but every cinema fan would love it!

It was a yellow day yesterday in Abu dhabi!

Who would have thought of a pakistan collapse in the final overs.
Maxwell couldn't do anything wrong when he was bowling the last over, just 2 runs to defencd, and pakistan 8 down.

That was the best bowling figures in terms of last over while chasing, Hats off to Maxi!!!

Every single player from Aussie's dent had contributed for the win, they bowled beautifully, didn't ever let Pakistan move past from them.

All 6 bowlers were used handy by Bailey, He was just amazing in the field, setting good bowling changes and fielding set up.

when Aussies started with the bat, it was again smithy to do the rescue mission, and with the help of warnie, he achieved it.

We got a better number 3 in Smith, All bowlers backing their best to control the arena, what else you want!

it will only produce you to go high in places,
The series is 3-0, a complete whitewash!
and yet again, Aussies are the world number 1s in rankings, even without Pup and Watto!

Yellow is our colour, win is our mantra!

Aussies came to UAE as underdogs; finished up as winners of only t20, series winners of ODIs. Only test is remaining for a clean sweep.

Pakistan were the real underdogs without their clique trio hafees, ajmal and junaid.

Thanks to maxwell for a timely knock, he was not in his usual skin, this was the first time he was hitting a 50 with a strike rate of 60s.

Aussies are ready for the crown 2015. Are you ready my fellow fans.

Spoorthi!!!!

Every super singer season had a favourite singer. At least for me. In first junior super singer, Vignesh was my fav, second it was priyanka, third it was sukanya.

Now in the current season, it is the lovely chubby Spoorthi! She sings extra ordinary to her age! Cute to watch and divine to hear! May she go places...

Payback is given! Properly.... ;)

They were 2 times champions of IPL; they were the champions of champions league 2010; they were the heartbeat of every chennaites and yellow bleeding guys all over the world;

But, but, there were some unfinished businesses: they lost to KKR in finals on 2013, they were defeated by Kings XI 3 times this year. The one unfinished business was successfully completed 2days before, as how I explained in the last blog post here

So today, the match started with evenly poised predictions; in Twitter the ratings were read as 52-48, favouring KKR. 

KKR was batting first, in one position of the game 200 was reachable for them. 

But pavan Negi bowled very well. To the surprise of all, the man who thinks different, Dhoni, brought in the spinner at the penultimate over; and to delight his captain's thought, he made it count and went for just 2 runs with 3 wickets! 

They scored 180 runs, which is just a little more than average in chinnaswamy stadium Bangalore.

Then started the CSK innings. As usual, smith was off to a brisky start and ended up to a slow Yorker of Aussie young quick, Pat cummins! Thereafter, until the end of the match, CSK was more composed to the chase. 

It was that man Raina! My favourite! He was dealing in sixes mostly, gave no respect to piyush chawla, didn't treat him as a bowler at all, hit him for 2 sixes in his first over. It was a treat to watch his stroke play and the movement of his legs. He handled the pressure and KKR's bowlers very well and finally went on to make his century!!!! That too as unbeaten!

Suresh was supported nicely by Brendon Maccullum, and in death overs by dhoni, who promoted himself to 2 down. 

Almost all the KKR bowlers hit everywhere. If you are a CSK fan, it was all so easy with those 8 sixes from Raina and those 2 helicopters from Dhoni! 

And finally it was so clear that KKR came all the way to finals just because of Sunil Narine! Otherwise they are not at all near to even Kings XI. 

So it's a beautiful Saturday night for me then, where the payback is given so nicely! The message for every haters of CSK, don't mess up with us! We comeback strong and strong. We have consistent players, we got a good captain in Dhoni with best players like Raina, Baz, Duplesis, Jaddu, Smith, etc

Nowadays the paybacks getting delivered soon as possible, yeah? ;)

CSK back again!

It was a match between arch rivals, a rivalry war for them, for the world it is a semi final of champions league.

After putting up a defending 182 on board with the help of Dwayne Bravo's onslaught, CSK started with Ashish Nehra against Virendar Sehwag and Vohra. 

When they started building a score, there was a mighty marvelous catch from point region by Brendon macullum to remove Sehwag! What a catch that was, that's the trouble other teams have when a team has two wicket keepers; they do field as how they keeping behind the stumps! And when you have world class fielders, who are ready to fly for every bowl towards them, what else a bowler needs? That's what happened with CSK bowlers, since their fieldsmen supported them to make their bad bowls into dots, they started delivering good lengths.
That was the first effort on field by Baz, later, twice Faf duplesis dropped catches, which are very much hard to take, Continued by a tremendous catch by him! 

Both Nehra and Mohit kept their lines streight and took 2 wickets each, with nehra took maxwell for a duck.

Then, as usual, Dhoni's golden touch worked once again with Pawan Negi, taking 2 wickets in his first over. Then came the chennai localide, Ashwin, taking 2 wickets in the same over, that of bailey and perera!

It was all happening for Chennai with beautiful bowling and hard and tight fielding. They had tightened their grip on Kings XI and by the time I'm typing this, its reading 91/9 with late assault from Raina, taking 2 wickets. 

What else you need, reserve your tickets for finals and keep calm and support CSK, the real kings, forever! The payback is given to Kings XI, scores read as 3-1 now, will be raised to 3-3 next IPL :D.

One more reason to be happy for, now that both Kings XI and Hurricanes are out of the tournament, all Aussie guys can fly to UAE for T20s against Pakistan and show the angry there 😀
